What you’ll learn — caring for an elderly parent, done right
Looking after an ageing parent is mostly practical — how to move someone safely from bed to wheelchair, how to keep skin healthy, how to spot when something is wrong. The Geriatric Caregiver course is built around that reality: classroom teaching first, then practical hours on our care home ward.
- Safe positioning, transfers and mobility support
- Personal hygiene, feeding and pressure-sore prevention

Trainers are practising senior nurses from the Naman ward, so what you learn in the classroom is exactly how care is delivered on the floor. Batches are kept small so every trainee gets bedside supervision by name.

If you look after an ageing parent or grandparent at home, four weeks of structured, hands-on training gives you the confidence to do it safely — from daily hygiene and feeding to spotting early warning signs and responding to an emergency.
Aspiring caregivers entering the field
If you are exploring caregiving as a livelihood, this short course is a practical first step. If you then want a career-track, CTEVT-registered qualification, you can move on to our 3-month Level 1 Caregiver course.
Certification and recognition
On completing the 28-day Geriatric Caregiver course you receive a course-completion certificate from Naman Caregiver Training Institute (NCTI). This is Naman’s own course, grounded in the clinical routines of a working, licensed care home rather than classroom theory alone.
If you need a CTEVT-registered credential, our separate 3-month Level 1 Caregiver course is CTEVT-registered and delivered on the CTEVT curriculum.
