Bansbari

Naman's Bansbari branch is what appears on Google Maps and Google Business as Naman Care Home Block 2 — “Block 2” is our shorthand for this second home, opened a few years after Pipalbot filled up. It sits in Bansbari, on the Budhanilkantha side of the ring road, roughly 500 metres from Gangalal Hospital (Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre) and 500 metres from Neuro Hospital in the other direction. That equidistance to the two hospitals most of our residents visit is unusual for a care home in Kathmandu, and it is the reason many families choose Bansbari when the ongoing hospital follow-ups matter as much as the day-to-day care.

Every space here was thought through with elders in mind rather than adapted afterwards. Beds are the kind that raise, tilt and lower like a hospital bed — the mechanics of a proper care setting — but they are dressed in home linens so a room still looks like a bedroom and not a ward. Rooms are private and personal; communal areas have space for grandchildren to sit for an hour without disturbing the ward; the corridors are wide, the thresholds are level, and grab-rails are where they need to be. The building's newer construction means the elder-care details — accessible bathrooms, room ventilation, quiet flooring — were designed in from the start.

The team at Bansbari is the same nursing and rehabilitation staff that runs Pipalbot, trained the same way, on the same shift-note system, working the same protocols for medication timing, pressure-sore prevention, physiotherapy progression, and family communication. When a resident moves between the branches for a room reason, nothing about the care changes — the routine, the therapy schedule, the doctor rounds and the escalation path to hospital are identical. Our kitchen prepares home-style Nepali meals on site, adjusted for diabetic, low-salt, soft-diet and cardiac-friendly needs, the same as at Pipalbot. The consistent standard between the two homes is deliberate; a family should not feel that one branch is a “senior” home and the other a “junior” one.

The residents at Bansbari include short-stay step-down after hospital discharge (a common route from Gangalal or Neuro is direct to our ward, sometimes the same day), longer rehabilitation stays measured in months, and long-term residents for whom this is now their home. Visiting is easy — drop in during the day, or call ahead so a nurse can walk you through the ward, show you the room categories, and answer the honest questions about medical suitability and cost.
